Motjaba Doroudi, investigador iraní, ha informado del descubrimiento de una nueva inscripción trilingüe en la ladera que rodea la tumba de Darío en Naqsh-e Rostam. El descubrimiento de la inscripción, que había permanecido oculta bajo el musgo y el liquen durante más de dos milenios, es de gran importancia en el estudio del periodo aqueménida y de la lingüística antigua: "El descubrimiento en el campo de la lingüística, la iranología y la historia es un logro histórico", destacó el descubridor de la inscripción.
La inscripción, inscrita en persa antiguo, elamita y acadio, es de particular importancia para los lingüistas, ya que agrega nuevos verbos a las tres antiguas lenguas en las que está inscrita. "Todavía se espera que en el área de Naqsh-e Rostam, que se ha explorado continuamente durante décadas, se descubran otras inscripciones igual de valiosas", agregó Doroudi.
El investigador iraní ha remarcado que el descubrimiento de esta inscripción agregará valiosa información sobre los archivos de Persépolis y mejorará nuestro conocimiento previo de la genealogía y de los nombres de las familias aristocráticas del período aqueménida. "El descubrimiento de esta inscripción ofrece una gran información a los historiadores sobre el círculo de aristócratas y asesores del rey aqueménida. El texto de esta inscripción menciona a una de las más altas figuras de la corte persa, el cual no es mencionado por otras fuentes", señaló Davoudi.
